Available in 26", 32" & 37" Screen Sizes

The BRAVIA V4000 Series LCD TV in HD Ready resolution offers excellent connectivity with 3x HDMI and BRAVIA Theatre Sync, together with the excellent picture quality you would expect from BRAVIA Engine picture processing technology.

HD Ready (1366x768) HD Ready (1366x768) To appreciate just how good a high definition picture is, it helps to know how TVs, DVDs and VHS worked in the past. Until recently, there was only one type of broadcast format – Standard definition - SD. With SD, the level of detail in the picture resolution is limited. SD has a resolution of 720 X 576, which means 576 horizontal lines of 720 pixels each. Pixels are the dots which make up a digital picture. The new HD formats boost resolution far beyond SD, giving your TV a level of clarity and detail that is absolutely breathtaking.
Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview Having an integrated Digital Freeview Tuner means that your TV has a built in receiver that will give you access to many more channels without the need to have any additional hardware, such as a Freeview box. In 2007, the government began switching UK broadcasting to digital, so if your TV doesn’t have an integrated digital tuner feature you won’t be able to view any channel without buying the additional hardware.
BRAVIA Engine BRAVIA Engine BRAVIA Engine is the high picture performance engine used in the latest Sony LCD televisions. An original picture tuning and noise reduction process was developed by Sony to guarantee vivid and high contrast images. The complex noise reduction process enhances low contrast images until they are crisp and realistic, and processes blues, greens and whites within each frame to generate the richness and colour accuracy.
Dynamic Contrast Dynamic Contrast Contrast ratio is improved and all shades between the brightest white and the darkest blacks are maintained, so the picture has more depth and detail.

This is achieved as the backlight brightness adjusts according to the brightness of the scene. Sony’s unique dynamic contrast system features ACE (advanced contrast enhancer) which ensures all of the subtle shades of grey are maintained. The V4000 Series delivers a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 30,000:1 (37’’ 22,000:1).
BRAVIA Theatre Sync BRAVIA Theatre Sync BRAVIA Theatre Sync is a new way of controlling Home Theatre setups. Using HDMI connections and one remote control, signals can be sent between the various units that make up the system. BRAVIA Theatre Sync is designed to cut out any complexity so you can concentrate on enjoying the movie. Just one push of a button and the audio equipment and TV are switched on, the correct inputs selected and the Blu-ray DiscTM or DVD player starts to play.
HDMI Sockets HDMI Sockets The V4000 Series has 3 x HDMI inputs (two on rear, one on side, all with CEC) make it even easier to connect to High Definition sources such as Blu-ray Disc™ and PLAYSTATION®3 ‘Sony’, ‘like.no.other’, ‘BRAVIA’, ‘BRAVIA Engine’, ‘BRAVIA Theatre Sync’ and their logos are trademarks or registered trademarks of Sony Corporation. So simple to use, great tv!5
Sony KDL-32V4000 - 32" Widescreen HD Ready Bravia LCD TV - With Freeview

As a very un-technical person I was very apprehensive about buying a new tv, but as my old one had white lines running across it I had no choice. I read the reviews on Amazon and felt confident I was making a good choice with this tv. I can only echo the excellent feedback this tv has received. It was so simple to set up, it really is idiot-proof, the user manual is so simple to follow. The quality of picture and sound is excellent, and I cannot believe you can get such a great tv for this money. Also so impressed with the speedy service by Amazon. Ordered this tv on New Years Eve and had it by 3rd Jan, despite estimated delivery date of 6th Jan. Could not ask for more from Sony or Amazon!!

Stunning upscaled SD with Virgin Media V+5
I agree with all the positive comments but was a bit apprehensive about the way standard definiton broadcasts would look. Well I have not been disappointed - when watching SD content via Virgin Media V+, the picture is almost HD quality!

What a TV and I am hard to please5
Well I took the bull by the horns and finally bought a new tv, and what a tv!!
The KDL-32v4000 is a cheap but amazing TV. Having taking it out of the box I was impressed, it is stunning!

The other reviews have said most of what I would say like:

    easy to set up
    great screen
    fantastic sound
    all round winner

But I want to say I have been watching football tonight and didnt notice any blurring or any thing.

I would say if I had £360 left in my bank I would have another one in my bedroom!!!

Plasma Vs LCD TV and Ambient Light

Until not to long ago, ambient light was the main argument you had in choosing LCD over plasma. With today's models, though it remains a factor that helps you decide which technology to choose, it is not as decisive as it was before. The light can affect the picture quality in two ways.

First of all, if the screen material is highly reflective a lot of light will bounce from it. In a real life scenario this happens in a sunny day when a lot of sunlight enters the window and hits the screen from an angle that makes it reflect directly into your eyes. In this situation the screen acts as a mirror and instead of seeing what it is displayed on the screen you see that annoying light that reflects from it. This happens because the amount of sunlight that hits the screen and bounces from it is much higher than the amount of light the screen produces. Depending on how reflective the screen is and the angle from which the sunlight comes, this effect can be more or less disturbing. Same effect appears from other powerful light sources - like your light bulbs - but it is less disturbing. In most cases the light from light bulbs is very weak compared to sunlight so this effect is either invisible or almost unnoticeable.

The second way in which light affects the picture quality has to do with your eyes not the TV. Your eyes are built in such way that they adapt to the amount of light around. When you watch TV in a dark room, most if not all light that enters your eyes is coming from the TV. In a well lit room a lot of the light that your eyes capture is ambient light coming from the window, light bulbs or reflected by the walls and objects in the room. In this situation your eyes get more light from the environment and less from the TV itself. So when you watch TV in darkness the picture quality looks better because your eyes capture all the light from the TV and you perceive a better contrast, luminosity and saturation - which are the most important factors that affect picture quality. When you watch TV in a well lit room the ambient light will overlap with the TV light and it will make it look more washed and the colors will be less intense.

Generally Plasma TV screens are more reflective than LCD screens. At the same time, a plasma TV tends to offer better picture quality than LCD TVs in an environment with controlled lighting (a dark room). Because of these characteristics of plasma and LCD TV, they are recommended generally for different situations - plasma TVs for people who watch TV with lights turned off or dimmed and LCD TV for people who watch TV during daytime and have a lot of light in the room. If you have an averagely lit room then both TVs perform similarly.

There are exceptions however. Technology is evolving and plasma TVs now have an ace in their sleeve. To find out what is the plasma TV feature that makes them perform in a well lit room at a level comparable with LCD, follow the link titled Plasma vs LCD TV at the bottom of this page. Buying a New LCD TV - Read Our Handy Tips Buying Guide

Admit it. Buying a television is a major decision. You really don't feel the same about shelling out money for a TV as you would when buying a winter coat. Besides, you don't treat a TV in the same manner either - especially not if it's an LCD TV. If you're in the market to buy your very first LCD TV, here are some tips you might want to keep in mind:

    Understand the technology.

LCD means liquid crystal display. It's the same stuff you see on calculators, handheld games, digital watches and computer monitors. The reason why they're so popular is that they are easy on the eyes, don't emit as much glare as older CRTs and are capable of producing sharp, clearer pictures with colors to match.

    Find your size.

Bigger is not always better, although LCD TV screens are certainly not wimps in that department. If you want big, you can go as high as 52 inches for most brands or if you have something bigger in mind, Sharp offers a 65-inch living room wall filler.

However, before you get carried away with the promise of a spectacular home theater show, remember that size is relative. You do need to consider the available space in the room where you intend to put the TV. That is why it's prudent to measure the space first before you head out of the house.

LCD TVs that range in size from 15 to 19 inches will work well in smaller rooms such as bedrooms and kitchens. Mid-sized screens starting at 26 inches up to 37 inches are good choices for living rooms, dens and some bedrooms. If you go higher starting at 40 inches, you better have at least 5 feet of viewing space between you and the TV.

Remember, too, that size is relative to price. If you want to buy bigger LCD TVs, be prepared to pay premium, particularly for top brands. You could, however, save a lot if you opt for lesser-known brands or discounted sets.

What you'll like: no matter how big you go, LCD TVs won't be heavier than a supermodel. They're as light as they are thin, which means you won't have a lot of problems in case you want to move them around in your home in the name of good interior design. Watch your budget.

Budget is a huge deciding factor when buying an LCD TV so make sure to shop around for the best deal before you make your final pick. Better yet, read magazines or go online to manufacturers' and retailers' websites to find out which brands sell what with which features. This will help educate you on what specs to look for.

Look for information on resolution, picture quality, refresh rate and viewing angle, among others. Although these specs shouldn't place an overwhelming influence on you, at least you'll know what to expect when you're out there facing a very enthusiastic salesperson. This will also help you maintain the budget you set.

    Test the unit.

Unless you've made a decision based on specs alone or the recommendation of a friend, you might want to head off to the electronics store and check out the LCD TV before buying it. Look at the screen and determine if the image impresses you. Move forward and away from the screen, go to the sides to find how wide the viewing angle is and test the audio. Ultimately, an LCD TV is simply a large gadget - it should perform for your viewing pleasure and no one else's.

Discount LCD TV is a consumer electronics website which stocks the latest plasma and LCD widescreen televisions from the major manufacturers. We have plenty of information and advice for buyers on what to look for before you buy an LCD TV.

    Samsung 52" LCD HDTV Review

Samsung 52" Lcd HDTV always seems to be one of the top sellers in the amazingly popular Flat Screen, Flat Panel, Plasma TV business.

Samsung is always coming up with new innovations and ideas.. Each of this years models have presented more features and new enhancements

The Samsung LN52A650 52-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of color is a great addition to have considering the blazing-fast 4ms response time and rich connectivity features to make your viewing experience a good one.

LCD Flat Panel Televisions have come along way over the past years. The bigger flat screen LCD TV's have brighter screens, clearer pictures with less glare.

Other features would be: V-chip system1 allows blocking of rated movies and TV programs determined by the parent to contain objectionable content. I think this is as an important feature as you could have on a Flat Panel Television.

The Samsung 52 Inch also has trilingual on-sreen displays in English, French or Spanish.

Another new feature this year is the ability to get RSS Feeds of news, weather and sports. Also new is a side mounted USB 2.0 port which allows you to connect directly to your HDTV to view JPEG photos or MPEG movies or easily listen to your MP3 player through your HDTV's audio system or your home theater system.
